Lithium Battery Reuse, Repurposing & Manufacturing

Australia’s leaders in bespoke, circular energy solutions

Whether you’re a recycler, waste manager, or business with used batteries, Li-ion Energy provides a full-service, compliant, and profitable recycling solution. Let’s close the loop on lithium battery waste—together.

Recover & Remanufacture

At Li-ion Energy, we extend the life of lithium batteries instead of treating them as disposable products. Modern batteries still contain enormous usable energy long after they’re considered “waste” — replacing them prematurely consumes raw materials, energy, and cost that can be avoided.

Our role is to recover that value.

We are a technology-focused, hands-on company that has developed specialised processes, procedures and proprietary methods through direct experience across every stage of the lithium battery lifecycle. Using manufacturing-grade equipment — including systems we have designed and built ourselves — we manage everything from fire-mitigation handling to high-throughput battery testing and grading.

These unique capabilities allow us to safely evaluate, refurbish and remanufacture batteries at scale, combining practical engineering knowledge with real-world operational experience.

Our operations are certified to ISO 9001 (Quality Management), ISO 14001 (Environmental Management), and ISO 45001 (Occupational Health & Safety). These standards ensure our processes are controlled, traceable and continuously improved — providing customers confidence that batteries are handled safely, responsibly and consistently from receipt through to final deployment.

Reuse & Refurbishment

Not all batteries fail at once — most contain recoverable cells and modules with significant remaining life. We test, grade and rebuild batteries using controlled engineering processes, replacing degraded components and restoring performance and reliability. Each unit is validated before release, allowing customers to return equipment to service safely while avoiding the cost and environmental impact of full replacement.

Repurposing

Some batteries are no longer ideal for their original use but remain highly valuable for stationary storage. We redesign and reconfigure these batteries into second-life energy systems, extending their usefulness by many years.

In 2026, Li-ion Energy will release a new range of repurposed stationary storage systems, with over 20 MWh of capacity redesigned and rebuilt in Perth. These systems transform retired batteries into reliable infrastructure for backup power, off-grid energy and commercial storage applications — keeping valuable materials in use and supporting a circular energy economy.

Manufacturing New

Where reuse alone isn’t suitable, we manufacture new battery systems using a combination of reclaimed and new components, engineered for the specific application. Our in-house design, assembly and validation processes allow us to build bespoke energy storage solutions tailored to performance, safety and integration requirements — from mobility systems to large energy storage installations.

Commercial Warranty Repair Programs

We can provide high-volume repair and recovery services for manufacturers and distributors managing warranty-return batteries. Using structured testing, grading and reporting processes, we identify recoverable units, repair faults and return compliant products back into circulation wherever possible.

Our controlled workflows, traceability and ISO-certified procedures allow partners to reduce replacement costs, recover value from returned stock, and maintain consistent quality outcomes while minimising waste and disposal requirements.
